A Braveheart, A Fearless, A Martyr: Rfn Aurangzeb, 4 Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry
   12-Sep-2018

Rifleman(Rfn) Aurangzeb was a young soldier who martyred for his country at just 25 years of age. He was a brave and fearless soldier. Even the terrorists in the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) valley feared him. He was serving in the 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry. But he was posted at 44 Rashtriya Rifles. He was part of the team that has led successful operations against terrorism in J&K. He was involved in encounter of those terrorists whose names were listed by Indian Army as major threats in J&K.

Rfn Aurangzeb hailed from a remote village in Poonch district. His father is a retired soldier of JK Light Infantry. Aurangzeb too joined the army to serve his country. He was part of the team which eliminated Hizbul Commander Sameer Tiger and Jaish terrorist Commander’s nephew Mahmood. He was a local boy from Jammu Kashmir which was not acceptable to terrorist organizations. Aurangzeb was posted at 44 Rashtriya Rifle Camp, Shopia. He had taken leave to go home for Eid.

On 14 June, 2018 he left the camp in a private car. While on the way, the terrorists who were hiding suddenly came out and stopped the car. They pulled Aurangzeb forcibly from the car. That time he was talking to his younger brother on phone. Aurangzeb was on leave so he was unarmed. The terrorists abducted him from Kalampora village and took him to the nearby forest. They asked him questions about his involvement in the killing of Sameer Tiger and other terrorists in the valley. He gave all the answers fearlessly and accepted he was part of all such encounters.

Rfn Aurangzeb knew he won’t survive much but he was still fearless facing those terrorists. His expressions were filled with bravery and valour. He did not give up infront to terrorists While confronting Aurangzeb, terrorists could not get any information from him. They failed to see fear in Aurangzeb’s eyes. They failed in their motive. So they shot and brutally murdered a fearless soldier. His body was found in Gussa village, Pulwama district, thirty kilometers away from where he was abducted.

Marytr Rfn Aurangzeb who left the camp to celebrate Eid with his family never reached home. His mother waited to see him but all she got was his martyr son’s body. His younger brother was eagerly waiting for his brother so that he would get a cricket bat as Eid gift but all he received was Aurangzeb’s last words on phone. His father was in shock but was proud too that his son martyred for his country. Being a soldier, Aurangzeb’s father wants his younger son to join the army too so that he may protect his people like his brother. Those evils against peace and brotherhood will never succeed in their motive. If they kill one, another ten brave men will raise to protect country and eliminate such threats.
