Hanuman Mandir, one of the famous temples in Srinagar, is located at Lal Chowk city of Jammu and Kashmir. This type of Bhagwan Hanuman vigrah is rare to see in other Hanuman temples in India. God vigrah is beautifully adorned with vastra alankar, flower garlands and pitambar. Separate shrines of Shri Ram Parivar, Radha Krishna, Shivalaya, Lord Ganesh, Shirdi Sai Baba and other Gods & Goddesses are also worshipped here. In early morning & evening, daily pooja and aarti is done in the temple for all present Gods. Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami, Shivaratri, Ganesh Chaturthi and other Hindu festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm by all the devotees.
 
 

 
 
But this ancient hanuman temple, just beneath the Hari Parbat in Srinagar has been lying in ruins since the early 90’s. The temple remains unattended and there have been repeated attempts to encroach upon approximately 10 canals of land that surround it. This temple was desecrated long before the start of insurgency. The massive Panchamukhi Hanuman idol suffered some damage in early 1990.
