Brigadier AV Natu, Who Held Up the Enemy for Four Continuous Days and Night

Brigadier AV Natu was commanding an Infantry Brigade in the Poonch Sector (J&K). The enemy launched a massive attack on the Brigade on 3 December, 1971 with two Infantry Brigades supported by three artillery regiments. The enemy continued its attack on the Brigade for four days continuously. Brigadier Natu planned, organised and conducted the defences with great skill and professional competence. He showed the courage and valour to his unit and repulsed the enemy through his skills and strategical defence. In the process of heroic defence of the Poonch sector, his Brigade inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy. He was awarded Mahavir Chakra for his bravery and exemplary courage.
