Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri and his company showed extra-ordinary courage during the Battle of Loungewala. He was commanding the Company in Rajasthan Sector. In the early hours of the morning the enemy launched massive attack on this locality with infantry and tanks. But Major Chandpuri exhibited dynamic leadership and his resolve, exceptional courage and determination inspired his men who beat back the enemy. He inflicted heavy causality on the enemy and forced them to retreat. He was awarded Mahavir Chakra for his courage and exceptional leadership.
