Army major and a soldier martyred in blast along Line of Control in Nowshera

An Army major and a soldier were killed and two soldiers were injured on Friday, when two improvised explosive device went off along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector, Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. According to the sources, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two armymen were injured whereas two armymen, a major and a soldier were martyred in other blast. The detonators are suspected to have been planted by terrorists along the track that is used by Army personnel during patrols.
 
 
 
 
An army spokesperson said “In the blast, two army men including a JCO were injured. Both have been hospitalised and doctors have termed their condition as stable”. Sources said the second IED blast, took place when troops were sanitizing the area and accidentally stepped over a landmine. It was informed that the “Two army men including a Major were critically injured in the blast. They were referred to army hospital, where both succumbed to injuries”.
 
Defence spokesperson also mentioned that an Army porter was killed in sniper fire in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district. The porter, who is identified as Hemraj, was transporting supplies to Army posts in Laam area, when he was killed. He said “Army authorities have promised all possible assistance to the family of deceased porter,” defence spokesman said.
