DSP, soldier martyred and 3 terrorist killed in Kulgam

In a major counter-terrorism operation, a Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Aman Kumar Thakur and one soldier were martyred whereas the security forces successfully eliminated the three terrorists in Kulgam district in southern Kashmir on Sunday. Also, a Major and a soldier from 34 Rashtriya Rifles were injured in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the state's Kulgam district.
 
 
The encounter broke out during the cordon and search operation of a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir Police. In this encounter, three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed by the security forces.
 
 
"We have lost a very brave Jammu and Kashmir Police officer Dy SP Aman Thakur in an encounter with terrorists in Kulgam. Such an irreparable loss for Jammu and Kashmir Police family and nation. Rest in peace dear," tweeted Imtiyaz Hussain, SSP (Security), Kashmir.
 
 
 
The Kashmir Police has also paid a rich tribute to DSP Thakur.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Dy SP Thakur was a resident of Gogla in Doda district of Jammu region and he is survived by his parents, wife Sarla Devi and 6-year-old son Arya. Thakur, a 2011-batch Kashmir Police Service Officer, was leading from the front in the operation. He headed the counter-terrorism wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police in District Kulgam from the last one-and-a-half years and had played a key role in the killing of terrorists in the area.
