All weather friend China deserted ‘Antankistan’, calls for restrain
   26-Feb-2019

China has asked both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint in response to the former’s pre-emptive strike on the terror camps operating in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said, "We hope that both India and Pakistan can exercise restraint and adopt actions that will help stabilise the situation in the region and improve mutual relations". Though Pakistan has cried foul and considered it aggression against it yet the recent remarks of China clearly support India’s intervention today.

China’s response towards the attack

China has asked both India and Pakistan to diffuse tension and not to increase the tensed situation arising because of the terrorist attack on India and its response to it. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said "I want to say that India and Pakistan are both important countries in South Asia. A sound relationship and cooperation between the two serves the interests of both the countries and peace and stability in South Asia". He added, "We hope that both India and Pakistan can exercise restraint and do more to improve mutual their bilateral relations".

Pakistan trying to play victim card that no one buys

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a press briefing today morning that he has spoken with his counterpart in China over the phone and apprised him about the situation. But later the response of China clearly depict that China does not consider it an act of war. Therefore, it has asked both the countries to diffuse tension among them. In the recent press conference, Pakistan foreign minister and the defence minister Pervez Khattak said that Pakistan has already conveyed its apprehensions related to the move of India to Russia, China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Now, Pakistan has a strong case and it would do everything to isolate India on international forums. But it seems unlikely given the response of the countries across the globe in this matter, as they also understand the necessity of this strike on terrorism. China has already condemned the February 14 Pulwama attack, in which more than 40 brave CRPF soldiers were martyred.

India’s airstrike on Pakistan

India carried out a non-military pre-emptive attack across the line of control on the terror camps of proscribed terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, which was responsible for the suicide attack in Pulwama. Twelve Mirage 2000 fighter jets dropped 1,000 kg bombs on the camp at Balakot at around 3.30 am and some 300 terrorists were killed in this operation. The pre-emptive attack on terrorists was done because they were preparing more suicide attacks on India and the soil of POJK is used by them.

Though India has often asked Pakistan to act on terrorism emanating from its soil but Pakistan remained in denial mode and its soil was used by terrorists to strike on India.
