After France and Australia, America asked Pakistan to stop supporting terrorists
   27-Feb-2019

France and Australia have already asked Pakistan to stop supporting terrorists and take some decisive action against them. Now, America has asked Pakistan to take meaningful action against terrorist outfits operating from its soil and advised it not to escalate tension in the region after India targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan.

On Tuesday, India targeted the terrorists’ camps in Balakot in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and killed around 300 terrorists. This airstrike of India was done in the wake of Pulwama attack in which more than 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred.

US support to India’s right to self-defence

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, "Following Indian counter-terrorism actions on February 26, I spoke with Indian Minister of External Affairs Swaraj to emphasize our close security partnership and shared goal of maintaining peace and security in the region. I also spoke to Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi to underscore the priority of de-escalating current tensions by avoiding military action, and the urgency of Pakistan taking meaningful action against terrorist groups operating on its soil. I expressed to both Ministers that we encourage India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, and avoid escalation at any cost. I also encouraged both ministers to prioritise direct communication and avoid further military activity". Last week US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that the US supports India's right to self-defence and both the countries work together to ensure that terrorists should not find safe haven in Pakistan.
