Fresh snowfall and landslides kept Jammu-Srinagar highway closed for second day

The heavy snowfall and landslides kept the strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway closed for the second consecutive day. The traffic department official said, “No stranded vehicle is parked at any avalanche or landslide prone area along the highway”. Though authorities allowed one-way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu on Wednesday but the fresh landslides in Ramsoo-Ramban sector and snowfall in Bannihal restricted the traffic movement. Though snow clearance operations were started yet the fresh snowfall halted it. Also, all flight operations were suspended from Srinagar airport today because of poor visibility and heavy snow.
