Declaring Masood Azhar a global terrorist is essential for global stability and peace: US
   13-Mar-2019

US asserted on Tuesday that the proscribed organization Jaish-e-Mohammad Chief meets all the criteria to be declared as a global terrorist and failure to do so would be against the world stability and peace. Today, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will be taking decision on this matter and the comment of the US on this matter is crucial in bringing Masood Azhar in declaring him as a global terrorist.

Dreadful terrorist and proscribed terror organization JeM chief Jaish Masood Azhar

The 50-year-old JeM chief Azhar carried out attacks on India and he was involved in attack on Parliament, Pathankot air force base, army camps in Jammu and Uri and the recent Pulwama attack. US, Britain, and France have already moved a resolution in UN, to declare Azhar as a global terrorist, immediately after the Pulwama suicide attack, in which more than 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred.

China blocked the proposal on terrorist Azhar on earlier occasions

Though several attempts were made by these three countries to designate Azhar as a global terrorist on earlier occasions yet China, the all-weather friend of Pakistan, used his veto power and put a technical block on it.

US tried to bring China onboard this time

This time the efforts are being made to bring China onboard with the other permanent member countries of UNSC to designate Azhar a global terrorist. The US even commented about the important role of China and US for bringing stability across the globe and said, “I would say that the United States and China share a mutual interest in achieving regional stability and peace and that a failure to designate Azhar would run counter to this goal”.

It is hoped that this time China would not stand with terrorist Azhar and support the other permanent UNSC members in declaring Azhar as a global terrorist. Even if China does not object at UN, Azhar will be designated as a global terrorist.
