Business in Kashmir could not revive after Pulwama attack: Kashmir Traders

The economy of Kashmir continuously facing shock and it has not been able to come out of the slump. The Pulwama attack proved another major blow to the already deteriorating tourism business in Kashmir because people are avoiding to visit Kashmir since then. Further, frequent calls for bandh, terrorism, and separatism severely affecting the business in Kashmir that resulting in dwindling tourist footfall in the valley. The economy in Kashmir, which was already in doldrums since 2014 floods, faced further shocks in 2016 unrest. But now the situation is worsening day by day. The chairman Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club, Mushtaq Chaya said, “After Pulwama attack tourism players are recording massive cancellations which are a cause of worry for coming months. Last year, we had also faced lesser tourist inflow which means losses”
  
The president of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries Sheikh Ashiq said, “business scenario is volatile with unpredictability”. He added, “Important driving forces of economy in Kashmir are jammed. There is lesser investment sentiment. People are shying away from investing, either due to situation or they are already under debt as previous five years have given severe body blows to businessmen in Kashmir. In this situation, when you have lesser investments, it results in less business with its job creation too gets hit”. Ashiq said, Even if we compare ourselves with newly carved states, we are lacking behind them in almost all the aspects.
