Kashmiri youth drifting away from terrorism: This winter lowest terrorist recruitment reported from Kashmir

According to the security officials, the winter months of this years has reported the lowest ever recruitment in terrorism. The anti-terrorism operation, army reach out to civilians and their family members and other initiatives to provide employment avenues and mainstreaming the terrorists are yielding results and youth have become less interested in picking up arms.
 
According to the figures available with the police, the winter of the current year, from January to March 20, saw lowest-ever recruitment of local boys into terrorism. “Only nine youth picked up arms this year which is the lowest since 2017 and a good sign,” said official. In three winter months of 2017 starting from January to March, 35 local youths joined terrorism, including 29 from southern districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, and Anantnag. He added that if the recruitment remains low throughout this year, it means that terrorism is ebbing in Kashmir.
