Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered for the suspension of trade with Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) on Thursday. In the aftermath of Pulwama attack, Government is taking tough decision to rein terror in Kashmir and cutting off the cross border support to terrorism. The Government of India has already withdrawn the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to Pakistan.

The latest decision was taken by the Government after getting credible information that cross-LoC trade routes are being misused by Pakistan-based elements for funneling illegal weapons, narcotics and fake currency. The order of MHA will be effective from tomorrow. The trade was allowed through the two Trade Facilitation Centres located at Salamabad and Uri in Baramullah and Chakkan-da-Bagh in Poonch. The trade takes place four days a week. The trade is based on the barter system and zero duty basis. However, the reports were received that these trade routes have been misused by the Pakistan based elements.
