After squeezing the funding of Pakistan over its overt support to terrorists in the country, US has now denied visit visas to three senior officials of Pakistan. The three Pakistani officials were identified by Dawn newspaper as joint secretary, additional secretary, and director general, passport. The Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi disclosed about this latest development in Islamabad yesterday during the briefing in the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs. He said US authorities want to deport more than 70 Pakistani nationals.

The latest action was taken by US because of Pakistan’s failure to take back Pakistani immigrants who are illegally residing in America. Washington had warned Pakistan last month that it would withhold visas of Pakistani senior officials and not just of ordinary travelers yet Pakistan failed to take any action in this matter. Hence, US administration took this step. The decision was taken under law according to which countries refusing to take back deportees and visa over-stayers could be denied American visas.
