The unknown organizers” of TEDx Srinagar event cancelled it on Thursday after the real TEDx organizers confirmed that they are not holding any such event in Kashmir. The event, was to be organised on June 12, 2019, created much buzz in Kashmir because the pictures of Dr. Sheikh Javid, Sonam Lotus, Syed Mujtaba Rizvi, Riyaz Ah Beigh, Javid Parsa, Dr. Shah Faesal, Dr. Arpan Jain, Tariq Ghani, and Parvez Imroz were displayed in the advertisement. Some of the big famed Kashmiris like Shah Faesal and Parvez Imroz have committed that they are going to speak in this event. The entire campaign for the event was curiously similar to the original TEDx licensed event. The matter came to the limelight when it faced flaked on social media platform because no female speaker was invited in this event. The social media was flooded with the advocates of gender equality, who unequivocally criticized for the event being patriarchic inclined and mindset. As the participants were only males, it evoked sharp criticism on social media while tagging the TEDx organizers on twitter which revealed the reality of the event. Rahul Pawa, the TEDx Srinagar organizer, who organized the TEDx event in 2011 clarified that the event was not authorized by TEDx and he has reported the matter to the TEDx Headquarters.
