The chief of the proscribed terror organization Jaish-e-Mohammad, Masood Azhar was listed as the global terrorist yesterday by UNSC’s 1267 sanctions sub-committee. Though the listing of the chief of Pakistan based terror group should have been a matter of embarrassment yet the Pakistani establishment was shamelessly patting its back for the listing. They were happy that the resolution passed in UNSC does not mention Pulwama or Kashmir while listing of Masood Azhar, a Pakistani national, as a global terrorist. It was the most surprising yet expected response from Pakistan, which is a staunch supporter and sponsor of terrorism. Pakistan even ignored the fact that its Foreign spokesman Dr. Faisal himself mentioned that Azhar was listed on the basis of his links with Jaish-e-Mohammad, a proscribed terror organization, which claimed the responsibility of the Pulwama attack. Pakistan has even overlooked the fact that UNSC in its press statement dated February 21, 2019, categorically mentioned JeM role in Pulwama attack and Azhar is listed as a global terrorist after this ghastly attack.

 

 

 

Though Pakistan was presenting the present listing as the diplomatic victory in UN yet the citizenry showed the mirror to it. The citizens of the country consider it a humiliation rather than a diplomatic win of Pakistan.
