After Samajwadi Party, Congress bars its spokesperson from participating in TV debates
   30-May-2019

After the drubbing defeat in Lok Sabha election, the grand old political party Congress has debarred its spokesperson from participating in TV debates for a month. Last week, Samajwadi Party had sacked all its TV panelists and requested the TV channels to not to invite to them on the show. Congress and Samajwadi Party were able to get only 52 seats and 5 seats respectively, out of a total of 542, in this Lok Sabha election, whereas BJP won 303 seats.

The Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala took to Twitter and informed that the party has decided not to send any of its spokespersons on TV debates for a month. He added, “All media channels/editors are requested to not place Congress representatives on their shows”. The recent election defeat has become a big embarrassment for Congress, as with 52 seats, the grand old party cannot even elect the leader of the opposition.

Congress followed the footstep of Samajwadi Party, who has dismissed its panel of spokespersons. Samajwadi Party also faced the drubbing defeat like Congress in this Lok Sabha election. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narender Modi will take oath for the second term today at 7 pm. A record number of 8,000 guests will attend the swearing-in ceremony.
