Three terrorists are likely to have been eliminated in joint anti-infiltration operations in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said on August 29.
The operations were launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police following intelligence inputs regarding likely "infiltration bids", on the intervening night of August 28-29 in the general area of Machhal and Tangdhar areas of Kupwara district.
Chinar Corps of Indian army in a post on X shared, Based on intelligence inputs with respect to likely infiltration bids, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice on the intervening night of 28-29 Aug 24 in general area Machhal, Kupwara. Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and was engaged with effective firing by own troops; two terrorists are likely to have been neutralised. The operation is in progress.

One terrorist is likely to have been neutralised. The operation is in progress.
Meanwhile, a search operation is underway in the Rajouri idistrict of Jammu and Kashmir after an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces on August 28, officials said.
The search operation was launched in the general area of village Kheri Mohra Lathi and Danthal area on August 28 at 9:30 pm. "During the search operation, contact was established with terrorists at about 11:45 pm on August 28, and an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces near the Kheri Mohra area," Jammu and Kashmir police said. More details are awaited.
