Omar Abdullah Hails PM Modi’s Presence at Z-Morh Tunnel Inauguration, Calls for Restoring J&K’s Statehood

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir. The event was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and LG Manoj Sinha.

While speaking during the inauguration, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah acknowledged the loss of thousands of lives for the nation’s progress and J&K’s development.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “Prime Minister Sahib, your presence here today at the inauguration of this tunnel is a proof that those who carry out attacks and oppose peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir will never succeed. They will always defeat and we will continue to send them back.”

He also praised Prime Minister Modi’s efforts, recalling his speech during the International Yoga Day program in Srinagar, where Modi spoke about bridging the gaps of “Dil ki Doori” (difference of hearts) and “Delhi ki Doori” (distance from Delhi). Omar Abdullah stated that the promises made by Prime Minister Modi have been fulfilled through the ongoing work in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the peaceful and successful conduct of elections in the region, noting that there were no reports of irregularities or misuse of power. He credited the Prime Minister, his team, and the Election Commission for ensuring free and fair elections.

Omar Abdullah further expressed his hope that Prime Minister Modi would fulfill his promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “My heart tells me that very soon, your promise will be fulfilled,” he said. Finally, he thanked the Prime Minister for visiting Jammu and Kashmir in such cold weather, acknowledging the long-standing relationship between J&K and Modi. “We hope you continue to visit us often, stay with us, and share in our happiness,” he concluded.
