Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while addressing the 9th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day event in Akhnoor, Jammu, declared that Jammu and Kashmir is “incomplete” without Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). He emphasized India’s claim over PoJK and criticised Pakistan for turning the region into a hub for terrorist activities.
“PoJK is an integral part of India. Pakistan has no right over it, and they must dismantle the terror training camps operating from there,” Singh stated. He added that India will not tolerate the misuse of it for spreading terrorism.
Singh also reflected on the 1965 war, saying, "The 1965 war between India and Pakistan was fought in Akhnoor. India successfully thwarted Pakistan’s attempts during the war. In fact, India has always defeated Pakistan in every war in history. However, since 1965, Pakistan has been involved in promoting illegal infiltration and terrorism.
Our Muslim brothers have also sacrificed their lives fighting against terrorism. Even today, over 80% of the terrorists entering India come from Pakistan. Cross-border terrorism could have been ended in 1965 itself, but the then central government failed to turn the tactical advantage we had in the war into a strategic one.”
The event concluded with Singh lauding the sacrifices made by India’s armed forces and pledging the government’s unwavering support to veterans and their families.
The event was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Northern Command Chief Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar.
