The Central Election Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the list of its three candidates for the upcoming biennial Rajya Sabha elections 2025 in Jammu and Kashmir, which are being held under three separate notifications.
For the first notification, the party has nominated Shri Ghulam Mohammad Mir. Shri Rakesh Mahajan has been named as the candidate for the second notification. For the two seats under the third notification, Shri Sat Pal Sharma has been announced as the party’s nominee.
Meanwhile, National Conference (NC) has already announced its three candidates- Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Shammi Oberoi, and Sajad Kichloo, to contest the polls. NC leaders have also said that talks are underway with Congress for a possible alliance on the fourth seat. Congress has not yet declared its candidates.
As per the schedule, polling for the Rajya Sabha seats will be held on October 24, while the last date for filing nominations is October 13. Counting of votes will take place on the same day, an hour after polling ends.
