BJP core group meets in Jammu to pick candidates for J&K Rajya Sabha Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday held a core group meeting at its party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to discuss names of candidates for the four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir that have been vacant since 2021.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh were among the senior leaders present at the meeting.

According to the schedule, polling for these seats will take place on October 24. The last date for filing nominations is October 13. Counting of votes will begin on the same day, an hour after polling ends.

The four Rajya Sabha seats fell vacant in February 2021 after the terms of Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Nazir Ahmed Laway ended.
