The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration attempt near the International Border in the Pargwal sector of Akhnoor (Jammu). A Pakistan-trained terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was arrested during the operation.

The arrested terrorist has been identified as Abdul Khaliq, 41 years old. He is a resident of Darhal area of Rajouri district. He had crossed over to Pakistan through the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector in 2021.

After going to Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Abdul Khaliq received six months of arms training at training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed. He was trained in using assault rifles and grenades.

He was given instructions to recruit local youth in Rajouri and Poonch, spread radical ideas, and revive terrorism in the region.

Abdul Khaliq infiltrated into India through the International Border in Pargwal sector with the aim of reaching Rajouri and Poonch districts. However, his plan failed as the BSF caught him immediately after infiltration, as per reports.

At the time of arrest, BSF recovered one MP5 rifle, one magazine with 10 rounds, and one drum magazine from him. The weapon was a modified version of an AK rifle.

The terrorist has been handed over to Khour police station for further investigation and legal action. He will be sent to the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) to find out more about his role in terrorist activities and his motive behind the infiltration.
