Since June 26, heavy rains and flash floods have wreaked havoc across Pakistan, leaving at least 57 people dead and 99 injured, as per the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The worst-hit region is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where 22 people have lost their lives. Most of these deaths happened due to flash floods, house collapses, and people being swept away by strong water currents.
In Punjab, 17 people have died so far, while 13 deaths have been reported from Sindh and 5 from Balochistan. The floods have washed away roads, homes, bridges, and even vehicles in some places.
The sudden floods in tourist spots like Swat Valley took both locals and travellers by surprise. Many families are now homeless, and rescue teams are struggling to reach remote areas due to blocked roads and landslides.
Officials are warning that more heavy rain is expected in the coming days. People have been advised to avoid rivers, mountains, and low lying areas while the rescue operations are underway.
