Heavy Rains Trigger Flood Jammu

Continuous heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Jammu & Kashmir, triggering flood-like conditions as rivers swelled across the Union Territory.

In Jammu, the Tawi River is flowing in full spate, while the Jhelum River in Srinagar has recorded a significant rise in water level and flowing at danger level mark.

The Chenab River is also overflowing because of continuous rain in the upper regions. In Akhnoor, many houses have been flooded as rising water from the Chenab has entered people’s homes.

According to official data, between 8:30 am Tuesday and 5:30 am Wednesday, the highest rainfall was recorded in Reasi (203 mm), followed by Katra (193 mm), Batote (157.3 mm), Doda (114 mm), and Baderwah (96.2 mm). Jammu city itself received 81 mm. Other major stations included Banihal (95 mm), Ramban (82 mm), Kokernag (68.2 mm), and Pahalgam (55 mm).
