
The holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the season’s first snowfall on Thursday night. The snowfall covered the Trikuta Hills in a clean white blanket, creating a scenic view around the shrine.
Due to bad weather and continuous rain and snowfall at Vaishno Devi Bhawan, the authorities have suspended the yatra until further notice to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
Several other areas of Jammu province also experienced the first snowfall of the season. The picturesque Bhaderwah Valley and popular hill resorts including Patnitop, Nathatop, Sanasar and Batote received fresh snow.
As predicted by meteorologists, rainfall began around midnight in Jammu province. The rain gradually intensified and later turned into snowfall in the higher reaches.
Snowfall disrupted air services as well. Srinagar Airport, along with IndiGo Airlines, announced the temporary suspension and cancellation of several flights due to snowfall.
Meanwhile, several parts of Jammu city witnessed rainfall, and cold weather conditions prevailed across the region.
