
Security forces have resumed a major search operation in Jammu Kashmir’s Kathua district to track down terrorists hiding in the forest area of Kamadh Nullah. The operation was intensified after an encounter broke out between terrorists and security personnel in the area.
According to officials, an exchange of fire took place on Wednesday evening when a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces spotted suspicious movement in the area. The terrorists managed to escape under the cover of dense vegetation after firing at the forces.
“SOG Kathua has engaged terrorists in the forest of Kamadh Nullah, Kathua. Despite darkness, thick vegetation and treacherous terrain, SOG relentlessly engaging the terrorists. Teams of CRPF are also participating in the Joint Op.,” IGP Jammu shared on X.
Following the encounter, additional reinforcements were rushed to the spot, and a cordon and search operation was launched. The entire area has been sealed, and search teams are conducting thorough combing operations to ensure the terrorists are neutralised.
