Poonch: A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in a forward village along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday evening, prompting security forces to step up vigilance in the area, according to reports.

The blast reportedly took place near the zero line when a group of people was moving along the Pakistan side of the LoC. Casualties were reported, but the exact number of people killed or injured was not immediately known.

It was not yet clear whether the group comprised suspected terrorists trying to cross the LoC or Pakistani security personnel patrolling the area.

Following the explosion, security forces sounded an alert and increased checking and monitoring along the LoC to assess the situation and prevent any possible infiltration.

More details are awaited.
