Budgam, J&K: Srinagar Lok Sabha MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Tuesday announced his decision to resign from his parliamentary seat and the Jammu Kashmir National Conference (NC) during a rally in Budgam held on the death anniversary of his father.

Ruhullah accused the NC leadership of failing to fulfil its electoral promises or take steps to implement them. He cited issues such as the restoration of Article 370, protection of constitutional rights and reservation-related concerns as reasons behind his decision.

Ruhullah's announcement comes amid growing internal tensions within the NC following the October 27 cabinet reshuffle, in which Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inducted four new ministers.

The party's internal crisis deepened on Monday when 25 NC legislators issued a 14-day ultimatum to the leadership, warning that they would withdraw their support from the government if their demands were not met.

The MLAs have called for changes in the government, seeking the replacement of some ministers and the removal of the Chief Minister's advisor.
