Two soldiers lost lives as military vehicle falls into gorge in Ladakh

Two Army soldiers lost their lives in a road accident near Namika La Pass on the Kargil-Leh National Highway in Ladakh on Wednesday.

 

Officials said the accident took place at around 1:30 pm when a heavy-duty military vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a 600-foot-deep gorge. The two soldiers on board, who were serving as the driver and co-driver, died on the spot.

 

Police and rescue teams reached the spot and recovered the bodies. They were later shifted to the nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities and postmortem examinations.
