NIA Officer Arrested in Delhi in Fake Job Scam

Delhi Police have busted a case of impersonation and cheating near the Red Fort area, where a man from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir was found allegedly posing as a National Investigation Agency official and duping poor families with fake job promises. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

As per the official statement issued by Delhi Police, the details are as follows:

“On 18.02.2026, during patrolling, a team of Police Station Kotwali noticed a black Hyundai Santro car parked in suspicious circumstances behind Red Fort near Delhi Chalo Park. Upon checking the vehicle, two persons were found inside one of which was Mudassar r/o Pulwama, J&K and another was a minor. During inquiry, the suspect Mudassar produced an identity card purportedly issued by NIA.

The card appeared suspicious on the face of it. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had been targeting economically vulnerable families by promising employment opportunities in Delhi in exchange for money. He had assured the minor boy’s family of arranging a job in Delhi and had taken an advance payment before bringing him along to Delhi. Based on the Joint Interrogation Report (JIR), it has been concluded that the accused had been impersonating an official using a forged identity card and cheating common people on the pretext of providing jobs.

Accordingly, a case has been registered at PS Kotwali under Sections 319(2)/339 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (corresponding to Sections 419/474 IPC). Further investigation is in progress.”

Police said the fake identity card, claimed to be issued by the National Investigation Agency, was found to be forged during preliminary checks. The accused has been booked and further investigation is underway.
