Delhi Police have arrested Shabir Ahmed Lone, a terrorist associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in connection with the recently uncovered metro poster case.
According to police, Lone was working as a sleeper cell member and had pasted anti-national posters at several locations. Initial investigation suggests that the entire module was being run under the directions of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI.
Shabir Ahmad Lone, also known as Raja or Kashmiri, is a resident of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. He was earlier arrested by the Special Cell in 2007 with a large stock of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and grenades. He remained in Tihar Jail until 2018.
Sources in the police said that Lone had links with top LeT leaders Hafiz Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. He had also received terror training in Muzaffarabad, located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
At present, he is being questioned by the police for further details about the network.
