Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has created a big international controversy after making strong remarks against Israel and Jews at a very sensitive time.

This happened when Pakistan is trying to act as a mediator in tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran. American and Iranian delegations are expected to arrive in Islamabad for peace talks on Friday.

In the middle of this, Khawaja Asif posted on X saying, “Israel is evil and a curse for humanity, while peace talks are underway in Islamabad, genocide is being committed in Lebanon.

Innocent citizens are being killed by Israel, first Gaza, then Iran and now Lebanon, bloodletting continues unabated. I hope and pray people who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land to get rid of European jews burn in hell.” His post caused outrage, and he later deleted it.

Israel strongly reacted to his statement and questioned Pakistan’s role as a neutral mediator. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said, “Pakistan Defence Minister’s call for Israel’s annihilation is outrageous. This is not a statement that can be tolerated from any government, especially not from one that claims to be a neutral arbiter for peace.”

Earlier also, Khawaja Asif asked Muslim countries to recognise India and Israel as their “true enemies,” even while welcoming the US-Iran ceasefire. These remarks have now raised serious questions about Pakistan’s credibility in peace efforts.
