A senior commander of Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, Maulana Salman Azhar, has died under mysterious circumstances in Bahawalpur. According to reports, he was allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle in what appears to be a suspected hit and run incident.
His death comes just two days after another senior commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Sheikh Yusuf Afridi, was shot dead by unidentified guumen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 27. Afridi reportedly served as a key figure in the outfit’s regional operations.
Salman Azhar was a close aide of Masood Azhar and was linked to the group’s activities for a long time. Jaish-e-Mohammed, which operates from Pakistan, has been involved in major terror attacks in India, including the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2019 Pulwama attack.
