A Pakistani terrorist, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan (alias Shazeb Jadoon), has pleaded guilty in a United States court for planning a major attack in New York City. The 21 year-old admitted that he was inspired by the terror group ISIS and was preparing a mass shooting at a Jewish centre in Brooklyn. According to US officials, he wanted to kill a large number of jew people using guns and knives and had even researched crowded locations and possible targets.

Officials said Khan was staying in Canada on study permit while making his plan and was trying to enter the US to carry out the attack. He discussed renting a place near the target area and was active on online platforms where he shared his intentions.

US authorities said the plot was detected through intelligence and monitoring of his online activities. Law enforcement agencies tracked his movements and communications. He was arrested in Canada in 2024 before he could cross into the US, stopping the attack in time.

In court, Khan accepted his guilt and admitted that his actions were wrong. US prosecutors said he was fully committed to carrying out the attack and that it could have caused heavy loss of life. Officials called it a major success of international cooperation between security agencies. He now faces serious charges and could get life imprisonment, with sentencing expected later this year.
