The Government of India has begun major security preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, with a massive deployment of security forces planned across Jammu  Kashmir to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the pilgrimage.

According to officials, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir administration, has approved the deployment of 670 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) for this year’s Yatra. The deployment process is expected to begin soon across the Union Territory.

The Shri Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start on July 3 and conclude on August 28. The pilgrimage will continue for 57 days, with lakhs of devotees from across the country expected to take part.

Officials said security arrangements are being strengthened along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, including base camps, highways, transit camps, and other sensitive locations linked to the Yatra.

Officials said this will be the largest ever deployment of paramilitary forces for the annual Shri Amarnath ji pilgrimage, highlighting the government’s focus on ensuring tight security for pilgrims especially after last year’s Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The administration is also making arrangements related to medical facilities, transportation, accommodation, communication, and disaster management to ensure smooth conduct of the Yatra.
