Jammu: Around 9,000 pilgrims, mostly Kashmiri Hindus, left from Nagrota on Saturday in nearly 200 buses for the annual Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela, scheduled to be held in Kashmir on June 22.

The Kheer Bhawani Mela will be held at five Ragnya Bhagwati shrines at Tulmulla in Ganderbal, Manzgam and Devsar in Kulgam district, and Logripora in Anantnag district of south Kashmir and Tikkar in northern Kashmir's Kupwara district.

The administration has made elaborate security and logistical arrangements to ensure the safe and smooth movement of devotees. Security personnel have been deployed along the routes, while transport and other essential facilities have also been arranged for the pilgrims.

Officials said that the number of devotees participating in the pilgrimage is significantly higher this year compared to previous years. Due to the increased turnout, a large gathering is expected at the Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela, which is one of the most important religious events for the Kashmiri Hindu community.

The annual mela is celebrated with great devotion and attracts thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country who visit the shrine to offer prayers and seek blessings of Goddess Ragnya Devi.
