Havildar Mohammad Iqbal of the Assam Rifles, who lost his life in a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Nagaland, was laid to rest with full military honours at his native Kallar village in Jammu Kashmir’s Poonch district on Wednesday.
A large number of mourners, senior officials, security personnel, relatives and local residents gathered to pay their last respects to the brave soldier. Emotional scenes were witnessed as his mortal remains reached his ancestral village, where family members bid him a tearful farewell.
Havildar Mohammad Iqbal was killed and four other Assam Rifles personnel were injured after a suspected IED exploded near an Assam Rifles convoy in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district on Monday.
Paying tribute to the fallen soldier, Assam Rifles said in a post on X:
