J&K: Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra resumes after six day suspension due to bad weather

 

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for six days due to heavy rainfall and bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir. A fresh batch of pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu early in the morning for the holy cave shrine.

 

 

The annual pilgrimage was suspended on July 19 after continuous rain affected the Yatra route and weather conditions. Before the suspension, over 3.9 lakh devotees had offered prayers at the holy cave shrine since the Yatra began on July 3.

 

 

The 57 day pilgrimage will conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

 

 

It may be recalled that both the Shri Amarnath Yatra and the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra were suspended six days ago due to heavy rainfall. As the weather partially improved, both pilgrimages resumed from today.

 

 

Pilgrims have been advised to follow the instructions of the Shrine Boards and security agencies, follow all safety guidelines, and keep checking weather updates during their journey. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of both pilgrimages.
