Nepal floods leave 165 Dead, Hundreds missing including 300+ Indians

The death toll in the massive flash floods in Nepal has risen to 165, while hundreds of people, including more than 300 Indian tourists, remain missing, authorities said on Thursday.
Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said that 165 bodies have been recovered from the flood-affected areas so far, with identification still underway.
“165 bodies have been recovered from the flood-affected areas so far; identification is ongoing,” says Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on the Bhotekoshi flood at the Nepal-China Border at Rasuwagadhi.
According to preliminary data from the Nepal Tourism Board, 579 travellers, including 466 foreigners and 113 Nepalis, are missing from the affected area, Nepal’s disaster management authority said.
The flash floods wreaked havoc across three districts of Nepal on Wednesday. The floods were triggered after an avalanche blocked the flow of the Lhende tributary of the Bhotekoshi River and first hit Timure, near Nepal’s border with China at Rasuwagadhi, The Kathmandu Post reported.

India has also stepped up its relief support for Nepal.
“A second flight has just taken off, carrying 37.5 tonnes of HADR material, medicines & food packets for Nepal.
India remains in close and continuous touch with the Nepalese authorities. We will continue to strongly support the ongoing relief efforts”, External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar shared in a post on X.
