J&K fast bowler Auqib Nabi makes history with maiden India test call-up

Jammu Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi has created history by becoming the first bowler from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected for the Indian Test team. The 29-year-old pacer from Baramulla has been named as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement for India’s upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, starting August 15.

 

Bumrah has been ruled out of the series after failing to fully recover from the left knee injury he suffered during the ODI series against England.

 

Auqib’s selection marks a major milestone for cricket in Jammu and Kashmir. Known for his disciplined pace bowling, he has impressed with consistent performances in domestic cricket and for India A during the recent tour of Sri Lanka. His selection is being seen as a proud moment for the region.
