Putin arrives in New Delhi for 18th BRICS Summit; Xi Jinping also set to visit India
Chinese President Xi Jinping will also visit India to attend the BRICS Summit, official media reported on Thursday. This will be Xi’s first visit to India in nearly seven years. Xi last visited India in 2019 for an informal summit with Modi in Mamallapuram near Chennai.

New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi early Friday for a three-day visit to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit being hosted by India.
Minister of State for External Affairs and Gonda MP Kirti Vardhan Singh received President Putin at the airport. During his visit, Putin is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and participate in a series of bilateral meetings.
MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted, “Warmly welcome President Vladimir Putin of Russia for the 18th BRICS Summit. He was received by MoS and Gonda MP KV Singh at the airport. India and Russia share multifaceted and longstanding ties anchored in Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.”

Meanwhile, the national capital has been decked up with posters and illuminated installations ahead of the BRICS Summit. India is hosting the BRICS Summit at the sprawling Bharat Mandapam venue in central Delhi on September 12 and 13.
