New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence, in its Annual Report 2025-26, said that there was a significant reduction in the deployment of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) forces along the Northern Borders during 2025.
According to the report, 10 Combined Arms Brigade-sized PLA forces remained deployed in areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and in traditional training areas. It said the deployment of the Indian Army in all sectors along the LAC remains robust, well-poised and prepared to deal with any emerging contingency.

The report said that the situation in J&K and along the Line of Control (LoC) changed significantly during Operation Sindoor. However, following the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO)-level talks held on May 10 and 12, 2025, the situation has stabilised to a large extent, although unpredictability continues, the Ministry said.
