J&K: IED, ammunition recovered in Kupwara; AK rounds, Pakistani currency seized in Poonch

J&K: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and other items during a joint operation in the forward Sudhpora area of Kupwara district on Saturday.

 

The recovery was made by the Army along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police during a joint operation. The seized items included one IED, six RPG boosters, three RPG rounds, 11 AK rounds, 15 Pika machine gun rounds and two packets of medicines.

 

In another development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, conducted a search at a jewellery shop in the main market of Poonch and reportedly recovered ammunition and Pakistani currency.

 

According to officials, the search was carried out based on specific inputs. A police team from Police Station Poonch, accompanied by the FSL team and a Naib Tehsildar, searched the jewellery shop of Davinder Singh, son of Narinder Singh, a resident of Mohalla Khorinar, Poonch.

 

During the search, the officials claimed to have recovered AK-47 rounds, Pakistani currency worth Rs 105, and Pakistani posters and flags from the premises.

 

Further details are expected to be shared as the investigation is underway, officials said.
