After China shielded Masood Azhar, India and UNSC members would explore other avenues

China blocked the move of three permanent members of UN Security Council to designate Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. India expressed its disappointment to this move of China and started exploring other avenues for bringing the terrorist, involved in Pulwama attack, to justice.
Taking a strong exception to the Chinese maneuver over Azhar, the UNSC members warned that they “may be forced to pursue other actions” if China continues with its policy of shielding the terrorist. In an unusual tough stance a UNSC member warned that “If China continues to block this designation, responsible member-states may be forced to pursue other actions at the Security Council. It shouldn’t have to come to that”.
In the wake of Pulwama attack three permanent of Security Council viz. the US, France, and the UK moved a resolution in UNSC to declare Masood Azhar a global terrorist. All the members of the Security Council, except China who is also a veto-wielding power in UNSC, supported this resolution that was placed before the al-Qaida (1267) Sanctions Committee.
