Congress confused over the surgical strikes that happened during UPA regime
   03-May-2019

Congress claims for surgical seen comical rather than real, as its number has been changing frequently. The party’s claim for the surgical strike was given in response to the cross-border strikes during the NDA regime. Surprisingly, Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) is also unaware of any such strikes. In response to the specific questions, asked under RTI Act, about the surgical strikes carried out between 2004 and 2014, the DGMO has already replied that there is no proof of any surgical strikes before September 29, 2016.

The more hilarious thing in the claim of Congress leaders was that they have not given the proof of such strikes that they have always asked from the NDA. Congress leaders are even not knowing about how many surgical strikes did happen during the UPA regime. On Thursday, Rajiv Shukla claimed that half a dozen surgical strikes happened during UPA rule.

The former Prime Minister Manmohan had claimed that multiple surgical strikes took place during UPA tenure without giving an exact figure of such strikes.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi, for instance, had claimed that the UPA had conducted 3 surgical strikes. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had quoted the same figure in a 2016 press conference. Former Union Defense Minister A.K. Antony, too, quoted the same figure.

Earlier in March this year, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot had claimed for 15 surgical strikes during UPA rule.

Another veteran Congress leader, Mani Shankar Aiyar had claimed for 4 surgical strikes.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath seemed unaware about any such strike but he claimed that the biggest surgical strike happened earlier.
