Indian Army to combat COVID-19 with ‘Operation Namaste’ while its first positive case from Leh recovers

As coronavirus cases continue to rise across the nation, the Indian army is on standby and ready to assist civil administration in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the 34 yr old soldier of Indian army from Leh who was tested positive on Mar 16th while he was on leave to aid his infected father, has made a steady recovery. The soldier was quarantined at the Ladakh Heart Foundation after he came in contact with his father who had returned from a pilgrimage in Iran and tested positive.
 
 
As India enters into third day of 21-day nationwide lockdown, Indian Army has named its anti-COVID 19 control as Operation ‘Namaste’. Along with its ongoing efforts to assist the Government in its preventive measure, the army is ready to set up more quarantine centres for their own personnel and extended support to civil administration.
 
 
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday chaired a meeting with all three defence Chiefs to discuss the issue and look upon the preparations defence forces have done to battle with the deadly disease.
 
 
With 17 Corona helplines in J&K and Ladakh, Army to set up quarantine facilities across India to help Govt. under its operations
 
 
Helpline numbers have been issued by the army in service of general public and it has also set up a total of eight quarantine centres across the nation to dedicatedly assist the corona patients.
 
 
To win over the deadly virus like its other operations, speaking about Operation Namaste, Army Chief General MM Narwane mentioned that its army’s accountability to assist the federal government and common administration to combat deadly coronavirus. He said that as Army Chief it’s his duty to maintain the forces match. To defend the nation, it is extremely important to be protected and match. Keeping this in view, the armoured forces have issued few advisories in the previous couple of weeks.
 
 
However, Indian Army is already serving its purpose by conducting its indispensable operations across the nation amid lockdown that has been imposed by PM Modi. It has allotted hospitals and staff to dedicated quarantine facilities and serve those who are to be given treatment.
 
 
The forces are highly alerted along with the civil administration for any crisis like situation amid novel Coronavirus outbreak. 17 Corona helplines have been set up in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to assist locals with any given emergency.
