Menace of overwhelming biased reporting, peddling of half-truths by Foreign Media

Nowadays foreign media is observed very interested in poking in to the internal affairs of India. This trend has gone multifold after the advent of NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minster Namenda Modi. Whenever we come across any stories covered by BBC, Independent, New York Times, Washington Post, MSDNC (Comcast), ABC, CBS News, CNN and more, it gives the impression that Hindus have traumatized and victimized Muslims during riots that occurred last week for over three days.

Starting from headlines, introductory paragraphs and main story are not found only objectionable but far from reality, filled with bias, stereotypes and intent at manufacturing the idea of Hindu terror who themselves are victims of organized protest and violence by Muslims and some left oriented political parties’ activists. It’s rather distressing that these foreign media houses particular “New York Times”, “Washington Post” and “Independent” talk of Hindu terror at a time when entire west is witnessing the menace of Islamic Terror and many countries are virtually fighting a routine war against radical Islamic forces within their own country.

These international media groups should look at their unenviable records of not protecting the rights of minorities in their own countries that include the blacks, Asians, Latinos etc instead of raising a pointing finger on India that’s in the midst of handling the threats by terrorist elements within the Muslim community very democratically, peacefully and humanely manner.

Describing recent riots occurred in Delhi as Hindu - Muslim clash is again seriously objectionable as the three days terror was more premeditated, well planned by jihadi Muslims that collectively attacked Hindus and destroyed their property. Radicalized Muslim accumulated stones, bricks, petrol bombs and expanded their range of attack with brick pelting, by mega-sized slingshots that were installed over the houses of local Muslim leaders and Madrasas.

All this was so well planned that even Muslim children were not sent to schools on the day of this incident and those who had gone were taken back home before these attacks started. Moreover, the properties, shops and schools of Hindus were selectively burnt and looted but that of Muslims remained almost untouched. Therefore, calling such well-planned attack by Muslims over Hindus merely clash is against spirit of professional journalism.

Selectively reporting Hindus as rioters and attackers, portraying the Muslims’ as victims and simultaneously ignoring even to mention the Muslim initiation of violence and their role in hurling petrol bombs, attacking vehicles, causing the hospitalization of several journalists, police officers and paramilitary troops and even claiming several innocent lives of Hindus has become usual trend of biased and one sided reporting by western media.

Ill-treatment of foreign nationals in native counties of these media houses is well documented but prejudicially ignored .Amazingly , same are observed standing in forefront to call the Indian citizenship law ‘divisive’ and discriminatory. These stories ignores the fact that CAA legislation has been passed by both houses of Indian parliament that aims to uphold the human rights of persecuted minority Hindus, Christians, Parsis, Jains and Buddhists fled to Indian territory due to maltreatment of Islamic states of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Foreign media should set examples of fair reporting while doing stories on their own country’s records. Starting from arrival at airport to stay, how the foreign nationals specially Muslims are treated , What did happen in case of Mexicans, how does green card regime work, how does even visa is selectively denied for certain countries is well known but these issues are never raised.

On the other hand, India does not discriminate its citizens on the basis of creed, race, gender, ideology or any silly basis. India’s new citizenship law is only for persecuted minorities in neighboring Muslim countries who fled to India to save their lives and dignity. Setting the norms for granting the citizenship to foreign nationals is totally internal matter of a sovereign country and derogatory attributions to the laws is unacceptable.

Sometime back 'George Soros' poked his nose in 'India' & vowed to hatch a conspiracy against 'Modi' government. The last week’s Delhi Riots during the high profile visit of President Donald Trump were orchestrated and apparently funded from abroad that are inimical to Indian interests. Radical Islamic forces believe in armed violence to establish their monopoly, the armed forces and police have a duty to defeat such nefarious designs.

The protests, demonstration and violence against citizenship Amendment Act by Muslims are baseless as it doesn’t affect the citizenship of any Muslim of India. In fact, these protests and riots are reflections of radical Islamic forces who had dreamt of converting India in to an Islamic state in phased manner by importing Muslims from other countries to alter the demographic matrix. As Indian constitution gives equal rights to all citizens, Islamic monopolistic forces aspired to use the democratic machinery for achieving the goals of Islamic state of India but now this dream seems far from becoming reality and the republic of India is well prepared to maintain its democratic structure on humane, civilized and fair terms.

No description to illustrate the role of foreign media including some local Indian media partners would be adequate without mentioning the two decades old persistent propaganda war against Mr Modi and his close ally Mr Amit Shah to create an artificial perception of anti-Muslim and Hindu Nationalist image of them. Simultaneously, it would be erroneous to solely depend on CAA as factor of behind ongoing Muslim unrest. In fact, Modi haters are unable to compete with inclusive development agenda of Modi. Modi government launched several social benefits schemes like affordable LPG , free toilets, Ayushman Bharat for medical benefit guarantee for poor in which no discrimination made among citizens on the basis of religion, caste , creed, gender or region . Indeed the maximum benefit went to Muslims masses of India under these welfare schemes. The political opponents of Mr Modi are aware of the fact that it is easier to provoke the Muslims in name of religion and they are exploiting this inherent weakness of Muslims for their political vantage.

The political forecasts of self-proclaimed intellectuals proved ill-founded as no incident of any violence against any group took place after the second time return of Modi in power. Therefore, there exists cumulative frustration among opponents. Politically defeated and ousted opposition is striving nail to head to regain the power and seek the help of radical Muslims to disorderliness along with desired media management in which foreign media is apparently working as partner.

These trends make it evident that reporting of certain foreign media houses lack basic tenets of journalism that calls for objectivity in narrating facts in a very balanced, fair and free manner. Alternatively, it makes us believe as concerned citizens that driving further wedge between Hindus and Muslims and projecting Hindus as worst criminals has been become the stated editorial policy of few media houses which might be giant in size but biased and narrow in approach.
