Justice Rajnesh Oswal becomes first Judge of the J&K High Court to take oath under the Indian Constitution

Justice Rajnesh Oswal on Thursday took oath as a Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Sworn in as a permanent Judge of the High Court of J&K, Ladakh, Justice Oswal is the first one to take oath under the Indian Constitution.
 
High Court Chief Justice Gita Mittal administered the oath to Oswal in the central hall of the court complex in Jammu.
 
However, due to coronavirus outbreak, the oath taking ceremony was broadcasted online.
 
High Court Registrar General Sanjay Dhar read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by the President of India. He also read out the Letter of Authorisation issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
The ceremony was attended by few other Justices, police chief Dilbag Singh, Advocate General and others.
Following the abrogation of Article 370 and reorganisation of the state into two Union Territories, all judges of the High Court will now onwards be taking oath under the Indian Constitution. Previously, High Court Judges took oath under the state constitution.
