Muslim mob in Kannauj_1&n

In a shocking incident, a police team was attacked in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh this afternoon when they tried to inquire a group of around 30 people who had assembled to offer namaz. According to the reports, the people had gathered at a house for namaz, when a team of constables tried to intervene, a group of people attacked them while others hurled stones at the police officials from the rooftop of houses.

However, few arrests have been made and a probe is underway. At a time, when the Government is doing every bit to control the deadly coronavirus outbreak, such an act of negligence topped with violence by locals is highly condemnable.

In what may be a complete violation of the Government guidelines enforcing lockdown across the nation, the people first assembled at one place and when the police on duty tried to stop them from doing the same, they attacked the police officials. The chowki in-charge and two other police personnel were injured in the attack. They have been admitted to the district hospital.

The attackers also damaged the motorcycle of a LIU personnel. Additional forces were called in and four persons have been taken into custody. The entire area is now being monitored by drone cameras.

Earlier today it was reported that a mob surrounded the police and hurled stones at them in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh when they asked them not to offer group namaz in a mosque. A case has been filed against 25 unidentified people and both the police personnel and the outpost in-charge injured are being treated.
